My Fantasy Series has a title! Plus other updates…

artemisTo start this out, I want to take you all back to the post I did back in July about a Fantasy series that I am working on. I gave an initial introduction to the series along with previewing the opening lines of the first book.

The legends of this land speak of a great war long ago. A war for the freedom of the Ilysian races against oppression from the shadows that long plagued the lands. Few people know what really happened all those years ago but more than legend has been passed down, one to another, in my family. To tell the story, I must take you back to the day the darkness fell upon these lands. The day the dawn fell and the shadows grew, leaving a looming darkness.

Now I can say that I finally titled the series! I have decided to tile it The Elements of Ilysia with the first book being titled A Darkness Awakens (The Elements of Ilysia: Volume One) set to be released January 31, 2018! Little by little as I begin major work on this series, I’ll introduce some bits and pieces about Ilysia and the people of the series. This is a world full of magic centered on a battle between the light and the dark, with very clear dividing lines. It’s a land with a rich history, a long history and has known too much war without enough peace. I will be telling a major story first about the war and how this land will find its peace, but I do plan on going back and doing a prequel series that will be known as The Chronicles of Ilysia. There is a lot to this world and this story. I just plan on telling the story I was inspired to tell in my mind before I tell the history.

releaseannouncementnewMy next update involves The Passion of the Dragon Saga. About a month ago, Rayna and I decided to postpone the release of Souls Ignited, Volume Three in the series, from December 12, 2016 to July 24, 2017. It was a difficult decision to make but one that is certainly not regretted. There is still a lot left to tell in the story of Vlad, Erdenia, and Erzsébet. If you have not introduced yourself to this story yet, Hearts on Fire and Love in Flames are available now for Kindle and in Paperback. For more on the change of the release date, check out our latest blog post. Keep an eye out on the series website for more news from Rayna and myself.

I’ve also got other ideas in the works for later projects. I can’t seem to turn my brain off where that is concerned. I’m just trying to focus on one project at a time.

Currently Reading: The Red Queen by Philippa Gregory

redqueencoverRight now I am reading The Red Queen (The Cousins’ War #2) by Philippa Gregory. Gregory is an author who I had been wanting to read for some time. I am officially in love with her writing! She spins some incredible historical fiction that leaves me constantly aching for more. I have the hardest time putting her books down! The first of her books I read was The White Queen (The Cousins’ War #1) and it tells the story of Elizabeth Woodville, wife and Queen to Edward IV of England. The Red Queen, which I am currently reading, is the story of Margaret Beaufort, mother of Henry Tudor aka King Henry VII of England. I had never read much about her though I am fascinated by Tudor era England. Margaret is a member of the Lancaster branch of the Plantagenet family, hence the title of The Red Queen. The title for The White Queen comes from Elizabeth being the Queen to the York Plantagenet King Edward IV and mother to the Princes in the Tower. I was already fascinated by the history of the Wars of the Roses, especially knowing my ancestors are those Lancasters. So far, Margaret’s story is one that breaks my heart. Shwhitequeencovere was a woman determined to rule her own life in a world where she would never be allowed to. She dreamed of greatness not knowing that she would be the mother to a dynasty of Kings and Queens of England. This woman would who would give birth to her son Henry, future King Henry VII, at the age of thirteen would live to see her son rule England as King and to even see her grandson’s, King Henry VIII’s, coronation shortly before her death. Her life is certainly remarkable, as was that of Elizabeth Woodville. I will certainly be looking for some non fiction to read on these woman. But why did I finally begin to read these? Watching the Starz series, The White Queen, made it so I could not procrastinate reading them any longer. Now I am truly on a new adventure in reading, traveling back in time to England’s bloodiest period.

A First Look: My In Development Fantasy Series

chosenoneI’ve mentioned a few times that I have been developing a fantasy series. The idea for it first popped into my head more than a decade ago. I have gone through several different stages of developing, including making lots of changes as my original idea evolved into what it has become now. The basics of the story have not changed though. I am creating not just one new world but two. I will tell more about that in another blog. I have been creating histories and characters as I start to majorly build what makes truly makes the story and the realm that it exists in. It’s an extensive project but I am too determined to finish it. I feel like the story in some ways is driving me crazy to be told.

I will be giving more looks into this as time goes on. This is just the first glimpse into a fantasy tale all my own. I am sharing the very opening lines of the entire series. I have tweaked and tweaked these over the years to the point that I am finally happy with them. I am usually nervous to share things like this but it is time I finally bite the bullet. I have no idea as to a title for the series yet, but my plan is to release the first book by the end of 2017.

So here is the first glimpse into my in development fantasy series:

The legends of this land speak of a great war long ago. A war for the freedom of the Ilysian races against oppression from the shadows that long plagued the lands. Few people know what really happened all those years ago but more than legend has been passed down, one to another, in my family. To tell the story, I must take you back to the day the darkness fell upon these lands. The day the dawn fell and the shadows grew, leaving a looming darkness.

firstlookadI would love to hear any feedback about this opening piece. Welcome to your first glimpse of the world of Ilysia. This is the world I will be taking you to once the first book is complete. There will be more shares to come as I continue to write and develop this series of books. That is a promise.

Big Passion of the Dragon Saga Updates and Other News!

releaseannouncementRayna and I just announced over the weekend the title for the third volume in The Passion of the Dragon  Saga and I am very excited to share it here as well! We have titled it Souls Ignited: The Story of Vlad the Impaler and the Women He Loved and it will release in Paperback and for Kindle on December 12, 2016! The process of writing this series has been an emotional journey full of adventures across the world and learning some new things about history. I’ve always been passionate about history so this just allows me to dig my claws deeper in. Telling the story of Erzsébet with Rayna’s story of Erdenia is something that I am beyond happy to be a part of. Hisboxset1&2tory excites me almost as much as my work on this series does. Rayna and I are building an incredible story here that I love to unfold with her, puzzle piece by puzzle piece. To celebrate this we will also be releasing a special digital boxed set of Hearts on Fire and Love in Flames on August 24, 2016! The boxed set is now available for pre-order on Amazon for you Kindle readers. You can also read the first two books on Kindle Unlimited or catch them on their upcoming Kindle deals! There is a full update, including those details and more from Rayna and myself in our latest series blog post.

I am still working on other projects. The fantasy series is coming along rather nicely, actually. I plan to share a piece of the writing with the world later on this week. It’s just a simple, short paragraph but it will give you some kind of premise for this story that’s been cooking up in my head for more than a decade. Stay tuned for that to come this week!

phoenixfromtheashesfrontcoverfinalresizeAs for my poetry, you can read both Behind the Mask and Phoenix from the Ashes for free on Kindle Unlimited or you can get a free copy of them when they go free on Kindle coming up very soon! Phoenix from the Ashes will be free on August 3 – 7, 2016 and Behind the Mask will be free August 25-29, 2016 in exclusive Amazon Kindle deals!

Life has been insane for me lately but I have some upcoming plans for my blog besides just the sneak peak (and other looks) at my in development fantasy series. Keep an eye out for:

  • A blog (or several) about Game of Thrones because let’s face it I am as addicted to it as the rest of the world.
  • A blog about my latest adventure in reading Philippa Gregory’s Cousins War series. I just finished reading The White Queen and have begun to read The Red Queen.
  • A blog about Kim Harrison’s Hollows Series, which I finished reading earlieHouse_Targaryen_Sigilr this year. A fantastic read for anyone who loves a good fantasy series about witches and other supernatural things.
  • Some more bits and pieces of my poetry.
  • Some personal insight into The Passion of the Dragon Saga, working with Rayna, Vlad’s story, visiting Romania, and much more.
  • A blog (or several) about the music that inspires me most and I can’t function without.
  • A blog (or several) about my historical obsessions like The Tudors and The Borgias, along with the tv shows that stemmed from their legacies.

My hope is to be blogging more often so there is what to expect! Keep up for more news on The Passion of the Dragon Saga and much more! I’ll be blogging at least once more this week on my in development fantasy series.

Upcoming Kindle Deals and More!

It’s April which means it is National Poetry Monthnapo2016button1 I am challenging myself to complete each daily poetry writing prompt again this year, just as I did last year. I will be updating my website to display my writings from 2015 and 2016’s NaPoWriMo sometime soon. Why do I always do these prompts? I find it a challenge to write poetry in new forms about subjects that are out of my norm. It is a way for me to get out of my own box and into a new real where my writing is concerned. I think it’s something all writers should think about doing for the challenge of doing things out of their own norm.

I’ll be doing some upcoming Kindle Countdown Deals on both of my poetry collections. I’m looking forward to offering them to new readers and a REDUCED PRICE. I’ve done this deal for Behind the Mask before as well as doing FREE promotions for both it and Phoenix from the Ashes. Check out the details below because you don’t want to miss out on this!

I’ve also been doing some more developmental work on the fantasy series I’ve discussed on here previously. I’ve been able to write out all the basic details for the different species of people that will live in this world I’m creating. Right now I’m focusing on major development of the main characters as well as the history of this world. I’m not quite ready to share more than that yet but one day in the (hopefully near) future I plan on sharing this series with the world.

Until next time I’m off to the world of writing!

Quick Updates and Announcements!

Things have been rather busy for me but I have no complaints. I feel like life is coming together wonderfully for me at the moment. I have decided to postpone the release of Antidote for the Poison for the time being. I feel I cannot put the time it deserves into it right now. It might possibly release near the end of the year but so far I am seeing that it will be at least 2017 before it is released. I have no doubt that I will be releasing a lot more poetry in the future. It is something that is very close to my heart. I just feel that for now, it would be taking on way more than I should have on my plate to put things together for an April release.

As for my writing, lately the majority of my focus is completely on The Passion of the Dragon Saga. Rayna and I have been working long and hard on the next book and the series. This series is just as close to my heart as poetry. After all, it took years of discussing our thoughts for us to begin writing it. Now after two complete books and with progress being made on the third, it feels like an amazing achievement for us both, something we are both quite proud of to be honest. We, also, just posted an update on the series website you can check out here!

In my last post, I mentioned a fantasy series I had been developing for quite a while. I am happy to share that I am doing a little more work on it. I have been working on developing the history for this world, species by species. For now that’s all I am saying but one day, there will be a title and information on coming books.

I will have more to come about writing and life soon, as well as the posting of my 2015 NaPoWriMo work to this site!

Updates: Back to work on The Passion of the Dragon Saga & More!

passionofthedragonsaga2Rayna & I are back to work on The Passion of the Dragon Saga! Don’t miss out on the updates on the website!

I’m currently working out ideas for the artwork of my next poetry collection while I start choosing the poems for it. It’s a challenge so far but there will be a lot more to come soon as it will be releasing April 6th. I am so excited. I’ve got so many ideas in my head for this as a poetry series to show a journey of healing. Part one of this journey will be titled Antidote for the Poison. I am hoping that showing my journey of healing from dark depression and post traumatic stress disorder will help others who have their own struggles. That is why I share my poetry as each one is a piece of my heart and soul.phoenixfromtheashesfrontcoverfinal

Don’t miss out on the Kindle Free Promotion on my already released poetry collections (Behind the Mask and Phoenix from the Ashes) this weekend, February 5-7! Kindle users, get your copy for free! There will be a Kindle Free Promotion on Hearts on Fire and a Kindle Countdown Deal coming up this month on The Passion of the Dragon Saga novels (Hearts on Fire and Love in Flames). I’ve also been doing  a little work on a Fantasy series I’ve been developing for over a decade now. I’m not sure when I will have more details to share but it’s just something I’m working on every now and then. I do plan on focusing more on it after Rayna and I finish writing The Passion of the Dragon Saga.

Hopefully I will be sharing some more exciting things soon!

Quick Update & Kindle Promotions

It’s been a while since I’ve been able to update about things in my life. Things have been hectic for me but are starting to slow down to the normal flow of life. I have been doing a lot of thinking and reflecting on things in my life. It is helping me start to unravel the insanity in my head. I’ve started doing coloring therapy along with reading, writing, and everything else that has always worked. It is a nice creative way to clear my mind. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a new outlet!

My poetry collections (Behind the Mask and Phoenix from the Ashes) will be free on Amazon Kindle February 5-7, 2016! Don’t miss out on your chance to get them both for FREE! I will, also, be releasing my third collection of poetry that will be the first in a series of four known as Poetry from a Journey of a Healing. The first part will be titled Antidote to the Poison and will release April 6, 2016 from KCL Publishing as a Paperback and for Amazon Kindle! I’m very excited to start putting this series of poetry collections together. The artwork is in its initial stages and will be done by Le Fey Designs. I am beginning to select the poems for this collection and look forward to releasing some teasers soon!

Love in Flames has released!

front cover miniI’m very excited to say that Love in Flames is now available! Rayna and I worked very hard on the writing of this book. It took its toll on us mentally and emotionally but proved to be well worth it in the end. For me, this was very hard to write at times due to how connected I tend to be with my character. Rayna and I seem to have excelled at bringing the characters that we write into ourselves as if we are them as we pen their story. Bringing this story to life has been a challenge for me as a writer. It has taught me a lot and I know it will continue to teach me. For example, up until I began writing this series with Rayna, I had a horrible time writing things in first person point of view and now it comes to me much easier. Everything in life is a learning process just as everything in writing is for a writer. I’m quite thankful to Rayna for continuing to push me to better myself as a writer and it is because of her that I have more confidence writing in a point of view that I had always struggled with. I do intend on writing a more in-depth blog about this soon. For now, head over to the website for The Passion of the Dragon Saga to view the latest news, check out the teasers, read a review of the book by fellow author Lola Blake, and even find links to where you can purchase Love in Flames: The Story of Vlad the Impaler and the Women He Loved.
